We have received a number of emails asking if the Lubricheck has been tested by a 3rd party, independent lab. Although to date, we have not had the budget to contract with an outside testing lab to verify our claims, we plan to do so as soon as we can afford it.
About 2 years ago, when we started this project, we purchased a $1,200 SKF Oilcheck TMEH-1 professional oil tester. We have used the test results from this hand held tester to compare with Lubricheck test results. The SKF tester claims a repeatability accuracy of 5% or less. Our Lubricheck results have shown better repeatability accuracy of much less than 5%. (Not bad for a $30 device! You save $1,170. For those of you that just purchased your very own TMEH-1, sorry!)As a further cross check, we have submitted oil samples to Blackstone Labs, a professional oil testing service. These comparisons have also demonstrated a high consistency between the Lubricheck results and the Blackstone results, using the same used oil samples.
